Homemade applesauce

Not long ago I found an app called Flashfood.  With this app stores will list foods that are close to expiring at a very discounted rate.  If you like what you see you pick the item on the app, pay for it, and then go into the store to pick it up.  We have purchased a bunch of fruit and veggie boxes.  I have been doing various things with these boxes.  One of the favorites is homemade applesauce.  It is super easy to make and with the amount of apples in each box I have been able to make lots of applesauce.

I made some that didn’t have added sugar, some with honey as the sweetener, some with sugar as the sweeteners, and some with cinnamon.  Once they were done I decided to pressure can them so they will last longer.

For this one all you need is a bunch of apples.  Peel and core them and cut them into small pieces.  Put them in a slow cooker or pot and add a little water.  Cook until they are soft.  You can mash them with a spoon or potato masher.  If you want a very smooth applesauce you can use an immersion blender.
